This is a large painting on the rock face beside the R610 between Monkstown and Glenbrook. Local legend makes several suggestions for this. One story says that a ship’s dog barked as the vessel approached the treacherous Giant’s Stairs. His barking awoke the sleeping crew, thereby averting certain tragedy. Another story says that the dog saved a child from drowning in the river.
